An Israeli government spokesperson described the death of Palestinian martyrs while distributing aid near Gaza City today, Thursday, as a "tragedy" and said preliminary indications suggest the deaths resulted from aid delivery drivers rushing amid the increasing crowd.
Spokesperson Avi Heyman added in statements to reporters, "At some point, people had crowded around the trucks, and the people driving the trucks, who are civilian drivers from Gaza, rushed into the crowds, which ultimately led to the death of dozens of people, as I understood," he claimed.
He continued, "Obviously, it is a tragedy, but we are not yet sure of the details."
Meanwhile, the Israeli army radio announced details of what happened at the Nablusi roundabout, saying that some crowds approached Israeli soldiers, exposing them to danger, so they responded by firing shots."
It added: "The incident occurred near the humanitarian road secured by our forces, where due to violent gathering and the ramming incident, part of the crowds approached a military force that was about to allow the transport of aid. The crowds approached in a way that posed a danger to the forces who responded by firing."
According to Palestinian sources, occupation forces and their tanks stationed on the coastal road west of Gaza City opened fire with their machine guns towards thousands of citizens from northern Gaza Strip who were waiting for trucks loaded with humanitarian aid to arrive.
For his part, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said in a tweet on the social media site "X" that "our soldiers" did an excellent job when they fired at the masses of Palestinians who approached their location.
The Israeli occupation forces had carried out a massacre today, Thursday, near Al-Rashid Street in Gaza City against Palestinian citizens waiting for trucks loaded with humanitarian aid, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 104 and injuring 760 others.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced today, Thursday, that the number of martyrs is expected to rise due to the severity of injuries and lack of medical capabilities, especially with the shortage of medical resources and many hospitals being out of service.
