Several people were injured after a train derailed in eastern Sweden, following the collapse of a railway bridge due to heavy rainfall, amid warnings of further flooding.

The Swedish police stated that the passenger train, which was carrying about 120 people, was heading to the city of Sundsvall when two of its four carriages derailed near the town of Hudiksvall.

They added that after the police and rescue services arrived at the site, "it became clear that a railway bridge that had been damaged by the heavy rains had collapsed."

The police statement mentioned, "Currently, three people have been taken to the hospital, and the severity of their injuries is unclear."

Warnings from meteorology:

The Swedish National Weather Agency issued several warnings on Monday, alerting of strong winds, floods, and heavy rainfall in various parts of the country due to the storm "Hans" that struck over the weekend.

The agency's warnings range from "yellow" to "orange" and up to "red," and it had issued red warnings indicating "very serious consequences for society" due to floods on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute also issued a similar warning on Monday, particularly warning of "heavy rainfall" in parts of southern Sweden. The institute's warning stated that "in many areas, the weather will be among the most severe in about 25 years."
