Two associations in Vancouver, one Jewish and the other Muslim, are keen to remind that there are ways of understanding and cooperation between their two communities, which are often at

odds.

The Canadian "Independent Jewish Voices" (IJV) organization and the "Muslim Association of Canada" (MAC) collaborated to help a young Palestinian who was injured in a previous Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip to undergo surgery in Canada.

When Mohammed Al-Dhaza was fifteen years old, he was seriously injured due to being hit by fire from an Israeli drone while playing near his home in the Gaza Strip.

Since then, Mohammed Al-Dhaza, now 27 years old, has undergone about 20 surgeries in four different countries, including surgery on one of his knees six weeks ago in Canada.

Mohammed Al-Dhaza said, "Some people helped me come to this country safely and they are covering the costs of my medical care, and I am very lucky, but I am sad for my family who are still in Gaza."

Neil Neiman, 76 years old and a member of the board of directors of "Independent Jewish Voices," regularly helps Mohammed in his rehabilitation and adapting to life in Canada, and the two men have become friends.

Neil Neiman says that since the beginning of the current conflict between Israel and Hamas, many people, especially from the younger generation, have joined his organization, which condemns Israel's actions and supports peace and freedom for the Palestinians.

The desire to see an end to this aggression is also held by Atiya Jafar, an activist from Vancouver of Pakistani origin, who participates in protest demonstrations against the continuation of the aggression on the Gaza Strip.
