Dozens of homes and several roads in the Gaza Strip were submerged following heavy rainfall that began early Wednesday morning, September 13, 2023, coinciding with the arrival of the Mediterranean storm "Daniel" to Palestinian territories after it struck areas in eastern Libya, resulting in thousands of victims and missing persons.
Various regions of the Gaza Strip experienced continuous heavy rain and moderate-speed winds for hours, causing material damage to several homes and properties in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, along with the closure of several roads. The Palestinian meteorological department expects the instability in weather conditions to end within the coming hours.
On Sunday, the hurricane Daniel, which transformed into a Mediterranean storm, swept through several areas in eastern Libya, most notably the cities of Benghazi, Al-Bayda, and Marj, in addition to Sousa and Derna, where it caused the deaths of 5,300 people in Derna, as well as thousands of missing and displaced individuals.
