Media sources reported that the Turkish elections are witnessing a large turnout and it is expected to increase in the next few hours before the polling stations close.
Only one hour separates us now from the end of voting at 5:00 PM local time, in the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey, and the number of voters coming to the ballot boxes is increasing.
Polling stations opened their doors today, Sunday, and the voting process for the presidential and parliamentary elections began across Turkey.
Turkish citizens are scheduled to cast their votes in the elections from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM local time (3:00 PM GMT).
Turks will vote in more than 191,000 ballot boxes across the country to elect a new president for a 5-year term and to choose members of parliament.
A total of 60,697,843 voters will cast their votes in the elections, including 4,904,000 voters who will vote for the first time.
Twenty-four political parties and 151 independent candidates are running in the election race.
The Turkish Supreme Election Council has taken various measures in the 11 provinces affected by the earthquake that occurred on February 6, to conduct the elections properly in prefabricated centers designated for this purpose.
Bringing mobile phones and cameras to the voting place is prohibited, as these devices will be left with the ballot box committee to be reclaimed after the voting process ends.
It is also prohibited to provide news, forecasts, and comments on the election results on radios and all types of broadcast devices until 6:00 PM.
The ban on broadcasting about the elections will be lifted after 9:00 PM, and the Turkish Supreme Election Council may lift the ban earlier.
