German authorities announced the arrest of two young men on charges of planning to blow up a small truck at a Christmas market in western Germany in an attack resembling the methods of the terrorist organization "ISIS".
The first teenager (15 years old) was arrested on Tuesday in Burscheid, a town near Cologne, and a court in Leverkusen ordered yesterday that he be kept in custody pending a possible indictment.
Another teenager was also arrested in the state of Brandenburg in eastern Germany.
Officials said the 15-year-old wrote in a chat group about the attack plans.
Prosecutors in Düsseldorf also stated that he and the other suspect are accused of agreeing to attack the Christmas market in Leverkusen, a city located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany, in early December using fuel to blow up a small truck.
The teenager claims he obtained gasoline for the plan, according to a statement from the public prosecutor's office. It is alleged that the two suspects planned to leave Germany together after the attack and join "ISIS" in Khorasan province, a branch of "ISIS" active in Afghanistan and its surroundings.
