Interest rates range between 4.25% and 4.5%

The American Federal Reserve Board decided to raise interest rates by 0.5% to now range between 4.25% and 4.5%.‏

The Federal Reserve Bank raised interest rates by three-quarters of a percentage point in the past four meetings (June, July, September, and November), following two rate hikes earlier this year. ‏

Inflation in America rose less than expected last November, benefiting from falling gasoline and used car prices, with the annual inflation recorded at 7.1%, while expectations were 7.3%.

Goldman Sachs Bank had said in its forecasts for the US Federal Reserve's decisions that the main event at the Federal Open Market Committee meeting was likely to be raising the expected peak level of the interest rate in 2023, rather than the pace of the rate hike, due to increasing market expectations for a 50 basis points rate increase, driven by positive inflation data.
