Alison Wallace from Flight Centre said: "A lot of supply and demand greatly affects travel. So, there is no doubt that demand will be a factor, fuel cost will be a factor, and labor shortage will be a factor."

With the removal of testing requirements for vaccinated people coming to Canada, a travel agency says if you want to travel this year, you should do it quickly.

Airfare costs have remained low to moderate recently, but experts in the aviation industry say they have started to see things increase due to many factors.

Alison Wallace says that airfares and hotel prices are expected to rise.

Just this week, travel prices from Canada to the UK, for example, have increased.

On Expedia, the cost of a one-way trip to London earlier this week was about $400. Now tickets are about $600.

Wallace adds that the tourism industry is expected to thrive this year.

She said: "There are currently fewer scheduled flights and less space than pre-pandemic." "We hope to see airlines start adding more flights as staffing increases and that may ease prices a bit. But without a doubt, it will be a very busy time and that will drive prices up."

Wallace says it will get especially crowded during the summer months and on weekends.

She noted that pent-up demand is making people plan more trips than usual.

Just because Canada is getting rid of testing requirements for entry into the country, it does not mean travelers won’t have to be tested regarding other countries’ requirements.

Wallace warned: "Definitely need to know the prerequisites of your destination." "But (also) knowing that you can return uncomplicated to your country, but you must make sure you are fully vaccinated – you can’t board the plane if you’re not."

You should always check the COVID rules for the country you are going to before you leave.

"Not having this extra step makes it much easier. But definitely make sure you know all you need to know before you go to your destination."
