President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed that the actual construction of about 28,000 homes has begun in the earthquake-affected areas in southern Turkey, and that some rural houses will be completed by summer.

This came in a televised interview on Wednesday, in which he indicated that the earthquake region has entered the reconstruction phase.

He also added: "We have actually started building 27,949 houses in the provinces of Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Hatay, and Malatya affected by the earthquake, and some rural houses are nearing completion, and we will finish them by summer."

In another matter, President Erdoğan confirmed that the protection of the family institution is a priority for the government, and that lifestyle deviations imposed on society, such as the LGBTQ+ community under the name of freedom, cannot be accepted.

He also affirmed that the government will continue to combat deviant currents against common human values.

In another issue, Erdoğan stressed that the region and the world are turning into a field of an increasingly rigid international struggle.

He added: "We live in a world marked by crises and wars, and we have been able to build a strong and independent Turkey, and we need to preserve it."
