The delegation of the "ECOWAS" bloc, which is in the capital Niamey, met with the ousted Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum, as announced by "RFI" radio.

According to the station, the meeting was attended by former Nigerian President General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who heads the delegation, and the Prime Minister appointed by the military council, Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou Zain.

The station indicated that no serious discussions took place, as the ECOWAS delegation made meeting the ousted president its top priority, having arrived in the capital Niamey earlier on Saturday.

The delegation prioritized the release of the ousted president, and according to a source close to ECOWAS, this mission aims to convey a "firm message" to the military coup council, as reported by AFP.

The ECOWAS economic bloc delegation arrived in the capital Niamey earlier today in a new attempt to reach a diplomatic solution with the Nigerian military council, according to a source close to the economic bloc.

A source in ECOWAS reported that the Prime Minister appointed by the military council welcomed the delegation, which includes ECOWAS President Omar Touray at Niamey airport, and that talks are scheduled to take place with the military leaders to reach a diplomatic solution.

Furthermore, ECOWAS took a firm stance regarding the situation in Niger, stating that it wants to send a "firm message" to the military leadership in Niamey and to meet with the detained President Mohamed Bazoum.

Political, Peace and Security Commissioner of the organization, Abdulfattah Moussa, stated yesterday, Friday, that the goal of this mission is to "continue to follow the peaceful path to restore constitutional order" in Niger.

Moussa confirmed that during the two-day summit of the bloc, a date for military intervention was determined, but it was not disclosed.

Moussa added during a press conference in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, as reported by "CNN," that the bloc's military forces are fully prepared to intervene militarily in Niger at the moment a decision is made.

Moussa reiterated that constitutional order must be restored as soon as possible, adding, "We will not engage in endless dialogue; dialogue must be fruitful."
