The Muslim Council of Elders has been keenly and deeply monitoring with genuine concern the Taliban's decision to deny females their right to university education in Afghanistan, firmly rejecting the unequivocal confiscation of women and girls' basic rights guaranteed by Islamic Sharia.
The Muslim Council of Elders, headed by the Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, called for the necessity of taking all measures to ensure the full right of girls to education, and not to infringe upon their dignity and rights guaranteed to them by Islamic Sharia.
The Muslim Council of Elders also emphasized that Islam came to liberate women from the ignorance that diminished their rights or their entity, or considered them individuals deprived of rights and will, calling for the importance of working to preserve the right of girls in all their rights guaranteed by Islamic religion, including full education and the preservation of dignity.
