The Ipsos Center for Studies, affiliated with the Canadian newspaper Global, announced the results of a poll that revealed that half of Canadians, and more, demand new federal elections during the new year 2023, despite the official election date being in 2025.
While 49% of Canadians prefer federal elections at their scheduled time, 43% in the same poll expressed their support for early elections actually taking place.
The poll also revealed that most respondents from Alberta, British Columbia, Atlantic Canada, and Saskatchewan prefer to hold elections next year.
Also, 54% of Canadians surveyed, according to Ipsos, believe that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should step down from his current position in 2023.
Despite that, the percentage of support for Trudeau among surveyed Canadians remains at 45%, making him ahead of Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, who received 41% support.
