Today, Louis Dumas, Ambassador of Canada, Ivan Jukha, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Éric Chevalier, Ambassador of France, Frank Hartmann, Ambassador of Germany, Leonora Rueda, Ambassador of Mexico, and Håkan Amzgard, Ambassador of Sweden, organized a joint ceremony to honor 12 distinguished Egyptian women and award them the "Change Champions" prize.

The German Embassy in Cairo and its partners appreciated the contributions of pioneers in the field of gender equality and celebrated the social, economic, and political achievements that brought changes for prominent Egyptian women before International Women's Day.

Ambassador Frank Hartmann presented the awards to Mrs. Namis Arnous – founder of the "Ehky" network – and Mrs. Salwa Al-Luqani – founder of VeryNile store – who were nominated by the German Embassy.

The ambassador said, "The more different and diverse we are, the more we can achieve together. Therefore, Germany follows feminist foreign policy. Today, the 'Change Champions' highlighted through their contributions in many fields, most importantly empowering girls and women to shape their communities and fully participate, whether through social media or community activity. They are inspirations to us all."

Ambassador Hartmann also honored the young participants in the poetry contest final held online "Dream, Think, Express," organized by the German Embassy, namely Darim Hany, Jana Sharif, and Hajar Ali.

The ambassador explained that their poetic artworks are innovative and inspiring, reflecting the concerns and dreams of their generation.

Germany follows feminist foreign policy and considers women's affairs a focal point of interest. A woman’s voice, ideas, and capabilities are a key source for societal development and stability. To face today’s difficult challenges, all different parts of society must participate.

Therefore, the German Embassy in Cairo supports various women empowerment projects ranging from vocational trainings to educational campaigns about freedom and women's rights. We trust that our Egyptian partners are best suited to determine how and where these activities can have a sustainable impact and serve as a role model.

All our projects take gender differences into account by monitoring their impact differently on women and men, and accordingly supporting both genders. Through this, we can create an environment where gender equality prevails and lasts beyond the project duration.
