Today, September 8, 2023, marks the first anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, who sat on the British throne for 70 years.
The spokesperson for the royal family confirmed that King Charles III will not appear publicly on the anniversary of his mother’s death, and there will be no official family gathering for the commemoration.
It is also expected that King Charles will spend the day "quietly and privately," at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she passed away, according to the British Daily Mail newspaper.
In press statements, Grant Harrold, former royal butler to Charles and his wife Camilla, told the British "Independent" newspaper: "Like all major royal occasions, the first year will be an important year."
He continued: "The public will want to acknowledge that, as many people will think and remember the matter... and what the royal family will do."
