US President Joe Biden said on Saturday that the Palestinian Authority must ultimately govern the Gaza Strip and the West Bank after the "war between Israel and Hamas."
Biden added in an opinion article published by The Washington Post that the United States is ready to issue a visa ban on "extremists" who attack civilians in the West Bank, according to Reuters.
He also pointed out that he affirmed to the occupation leaders "the necessity of stopping extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank and holding perpetrators of violence accountable."
The US president continued, saying: "Gaza and the West Bank should be unified under one governing structure which is a renewed Palestinian Authority."
He emphasized the necessity for the international community to establish "a reconstruction mechanism to sustainably meet the needs of the Gaza Strip."
He also said: "There must be no forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, no reoccupation, no blockade, and no reduction of the lands."
Biden used the article to try to answer the question about what the United States wants for Gaza once the conflict ends.
