U.S. President Joe Biden said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with his actions regarding Gaza, is harming Israel more than helping it, turning the whole world against Tel Aviv.
Biden said in an interview on MSNBC: "I think Netanyahu is harming Israel more than helping it, making the rest of the world stand against what Israel represents. And I believe this is a big mistake."
He added: "He has the right to defend Israel, and the right to continue fighting Hamas, but he must, and must, pay more attention to the killing of innocent people who die as a result of the measures taken."
Biden had criticized Netanyahu's government for not treating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as a priority, stressing that Israel should not use aid as a "political bargaining chip."
The war in Gaza entered its 156th day as bombing continues in several areas of the strip amid a famine that has become a reality.
The Israeli military operations on the besieged strip have resulted in more than 30,000 deaths and over 70,000 injuries, most of them women and children, while international mediators race against time to stop the fire before the arrival of Ramadan.
