The floods in the capital Beijing have caused the death of at least 11 people, and the search is ongoing for 27 missing persons, according to Chinese media reports on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
Additionally, Chinese state television reported that the heavy rains falling on the capital Beijing have claimed the lives of 11 people as of 6:00 AM on Tuesday, adding that 27 other people are missing.
Beijing authorities issued the highest flood warning level on Monday, while a memo issued by the authorities stated that large areas of the capital's suburbs "face the risk of collapses, landslides, and mudslides," accompanied by a red alert for floods.
