Austrian Airlines, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, decided to cancel about 110 flights from its schedule on Thursday due to the strike.
According to the company announced late Monday evening, this represents nearly a third of the planned flights. Flights to and from Germany are also expected to be affected. About nine thousand passengers holding tickets for the canceled flights have already been informed by the Austrian company.
Similar restrictions have already been imposed in recent weeks due to meetings and the strike. The ongoing action stems from stalled wage negotiations with the company's employees.
The management offers a wage increase of 4.5% and also indicated its readiness to pay one-time payments and improve profit sharing. On the other hand, the union demands a 30% wage increase.
At Lufthansa, the flight crew union "UFO" called on flight attendants to take strike action on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Monday, the airline assumed that a total of one thousand flights would be canceled in Frankfurt and Munich.
According to a Lufthansa spokesperson, a total of about 120 thousand passengers will be affected.
