Arab employees at "Amazon" are pressuring the company to drop the cloud computing contract with Israel, amid tension within the company due to "divergent positions" between employees regarding the war in Gaza.

More than 100 Amazon employees gathered in 20 cities to celebrate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

An employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the employees who attended Wednesday's celebration "felt like they were being intimidated."

On Friday, more than 1700 Amazon employees submitted a petition to CEO Andy Jassy, demanding the company "cancel all contracts with the Israeli military and call for an immediate, permanent, and sustainable ceasefire."

In the petition, employees state that "by providing a cloud system to the Israeli public sector, Amazon is enhancing the artificial intelligence and surveillance capabilities of the Israeli military used to suppress Palestinian activists and impose a brutal siege on Gaza."

Another employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity to protect their job, told The Washington Post: "There is such tension between Arab and Jewish employees right now." "This is very clear."

Amazon has hundreds of employees in Tel Aviv, some of whom have been called up to fight with the Israeli military in recent months, increasing tension among employees.

In response, Amazon spokesperson Rob Munoz wrote in an email statement: "We do not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind in the workplace... We investigate all reported incidents of such behavior and take appropriate action against any employee found to have violated our policies, including termination."

He added: "We investigate all reported incidents of such behavior and take appropriate action against any employee found to have violated our policies, including termination."
