Two missing hikers in southwestern Alberta have been found dead.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police stated that they were informed that the two men, aged 34 and 35, had missed their scheduled return to the hotel at 10 PM on Wednesday.

The victims were hiking along the North York Creek Plane Crash Trail, located outside Coleman, where they were last seen.

On Thursday at 7 PM, search and rescue teams discovered the deceased men at the bottom of a series of hills on Mount Kolthard, where one of the victims was Jonah Swain from Calgary, while the other, Greg Judith, was from Lethbridge. Both were paramedics.

For its part, the City of Lethbridge said in a statement: "Greg Judith was a valuable employee of the City of Lethbridge and a proud and dedicated member of the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services family."

The flags at Lethbridge City Hall and five fire stations in the city will also be lowered in his honor.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased in a press release issued on Friday.

They also confirmed that there is no evidence suggesting the deaths were anything more than a tragic accident.

The cause of death for both men will be determined by an autopsy.
