Kim Kardashian was charged with selling cryptocurrency.

The Securities and Exchange Commission said on Monday that the reality TV star and businessman agreed to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

Kardashian's Instagram post contained a link to the EthereumMax website, which provided instructions for potential investors to buy EMAX tokens.

"Federal securities laws are clear that any celebrity or anyone else promoting a crypto asset security must disclose the nature, source, and amount of compensation they received for the promotion," said Gurbir Grewal, Director of Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission, in a prepared statement.

Kardashian agreed not to promote any crypto assets for three years.

"Ms. Kardashian is pleased to resolve this matter with the SEC. Kardashian has fully cooperated with the SEC from the beginning and remains willing to do everything possible to help the SEC in this matter. She wanted to put this matter behind her to avoid a protracted dispute," Kardashian's lawyer said in an email. "The agreement she reached with the SEC allows her to do so so she can move forward with many of her different business endeavors."
