Hollywood actor Steve Buscemi received treatment for injuries after being punched in the face while walking in New York City.
The New York City Police Department told CNN that it is investigating the assault that occurred on Wednesday, the latest in a series of random attacks in the city.
Last month, CNN spoke with six women who said they were suddenly punched in the face while walking in the streets of New York City.
His publicist said in a statement to CNN, "Buscemi was assaulted in downtown Manhattan, another victim of random acts of violence in the city."
The statement read: “He is okay and appreciates everyone’s good wishes, despite his deep sadness for everyone this has happened to while walking the streets of New York.”
According to the New York police, officers were called to the scene at 369 Third Avenue on the morning of Wednesday, May 8.
The police statement said: "Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 66-year-old man had been punched in the face by an unknown person."
The police said, "Emergency services responded and transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition to receive treatment for bruises, swelling, and bleeding from his left eye."
The police confirmed that no one has been arrested at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
They described the suspect as a dark-skinned man wearing a dark baseball cap, a blue shirt, black pants, and white sneakers, carrying a backpack.
The police department has requested the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.
Buscemi was born in Brooklyn, New York. He is known for starring in films such as "Reservoir Dogs" (1992) and "Fargo" (1996), as well as television series including "Boardwalk Empire" and "30 Rock."
