“Dallas Love Field” Airport in the state of Texas, USA, halted all flights and closed the passenger terminal today, Monday, after a suspect reportedly fired shots into the air at the ticket counter.
A video circulated on social media showed passengers trembling behind their seats.
The Federal Aviation Administration ordered a ground stop at “Dallas Love Field” Airport “due to a security incident.”
Dallas police responded to reports of shooting inside the building.
Officials said a person was taken to the hospital after “a police officer was shot and the building has been secured.”
Reportedly, the suspect fired one or more bullets into the air at the ticket counter, prompting other passengers to seek cover, then was fired upon by responding officers, according to multiple reports.
One video circulated on Twitter showed passengers sitting on the floor of the waiting area seeking shelter behind seats.
Eddie Garcia, Chief of Dallas Police Department, said, “A 37-year-old woman entered the airport restroom, put on a hooded jacket, then approached the ticket counter and fired several shots into the ceiling. At that point, a Dallas police officer fired at her. No one else was injured in the incident.”
