Toyota Canada announced on Thursday that the company is conducting a safety recall involving more than 50,000 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles in Canada.
The company also stated in a press release that the recall is due to concerns about a slight impact on the lower front bumper cover assembly that may cause the attachment tabs to detach from the vehicle during normal operation, and one or more of these components may separate, which could become dangerous.
The recall covers approximately 50,501 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles from the 2020 to 2023 models.
In the United States, 751,000 Highlander vehicles from the same years have also been recalled due to similar concerns regarding impacts, according to the Associated Press.
Toyota also stated that it will notify affected owners about this issue by late December 2023.
The company also mentioned that the affected vehicles will be eligible for free repair or replacement of the upper and lower front bumper covers.
Additionally, Toyota Highlander owners in Canada can check the status of their vehicle by visiting toyota.ca/recall or lexus.ca/recall and entering their vehicle identification number.
