Toronto police seized more than 600 kilograms of drugs, setting a new record for the largest single-day seizure in the force's history. The drugs were seized during the execution of search warrants at two homes suspected to be stash houses on October 5.

The police also said the haul, which consisted of 520 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 151 kilograms of cocaine, is likely worth about $58 million on the market.

Mandip Mann also told reporters during a press conference: "The drugs seized at the stash house were headed to our neighborhoods, and intercepting the flow of these drugs has prevented potential overdoses, which we all know is an epidemic facing our communities as we speak." Mann added that the police have identified three individuals connected to the drug trafficking and "expect arrests soon."

He also said the seizure, following a four-week investigation, marks the largest single-day seizure in Toronto Police history. It easily surpasses the previous record quantity of 286 kilograms of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine executed in April. The street value of those drugs is estimated at about $28 million.

Mann said about the recent seizure: "This particular seizure turns millions of dollars in drug profits away from organized criminals and undoubtedly has a positive impact on the safety and well-being of our communities. I would again like to thank the dedicated members of the Toronto Drug Enforcement Team and the Asian Organized Crime Task Force. What you see here today is the result of their hard work and commitment to community safety."

Additionally, Mann stated that the police believe the drugs were imported across the U.S. border and are slated for local distribution. The police are in contact with the legal counsel for the three suspects and intend to lay charges related to trafficking.
