CTV News announced that the Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ) will retain its official status as the opposition, and the party leader Dominique Anglade has been re-elected.
The Liberals won a total of 21 seats, mostly within and around the Island of Montreal.
Anglade said during her speech in front of supporters throughout the campaign, "We have sent a message to reunite Quebec. Whether you voted for us or another party, our door will always be open."
While her speech was almost entirely in French, she shifted for one sentence to speak directly to her English-speaking base. "Let me be clear: we will represent all Quebecers."
