The British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met today, Thursday, with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Tel Aviv.

Sunak arrived in Israel today at the beginning of a visit where he will meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog before traveling to other regional capitals, according to the "Sky News Arabia" network.

The British Prime Minister's office stated that he would express his condolences for the lives lost in Israel and Gaza since the attack launched by Hamas on October 7, as well as warning of the danger of further escalation of the conflict in the region.

Sunak said in a statement before the visit that "every civilian death is a tragedy. Many lives have been lost following the horrific terrorist act perpetrated by Hamas."

He added that the explosion that occurred at a hospital in Gaza on Tuesday, which resulted in the martyrdom of hundreds of Palestinians, must be a "turning point for leaders in the region and around the world to work together to prevent further dangerous escalation of the conflict," pledging that Britain would be "at the forefront of this effort."

Sunak will also call for opening a route for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza as soon as possible, and for enabling British citizens in the sector to leave.

His office stated that, in addition to Sunak's visit, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, who visited Israel last week, will travel to Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar over the next three days to discuss the conflict and seek a peaceful resolution.
