US President Joe Biden told CBS News early this Monday morning that Israel would make a big mistake if it occupied Gaza.
Biden indicated that he sees no reason for American troops to participate in the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
Biden confirmed during an interview with the (60 Minutes) program aired by CBS that Israel has one of the best forces, emphasizing that his country will provide it "with everything it needs".
He added, "We will do everything we can to find those who are still alive" among the captives held by Hamas in Gaza and secure their release.
The US President stated that "Hamas must be completely eliminated, but there must be a Palestinian authority and a path to a Palestinian state".
He added, "Eliminating Hezbollah in the north and Hamas in the south is a necessity".
Biden warned Iran and Hezbollah against escalating the war or crossing the border into northern Israel.
Regarding the establishment of a humanitarian corridor in Gaza, Biden said, "Our team is talking with the Israelis about creating a humanitarian corridor in Gaza and bringing humanitarian supplies in, and whether a safe zone can be established".
He noted that his country is speaking with the Egyptian side about whether there is a way to evacuate children and women from Gaza, but he said that "it is difficult".
Biden pointed out that "the threat of terrorism has increased in the United States due to events in the Middle East".
