The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia emphasized today, Tuesday, the necessity of "establishing an independent Palestinian state within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital."
The Minister of Media, Salman bin Yusuf Al-Dosari, explained in his statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the weekly session held by the Council of Ministers, chaired by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, in Neom today, Tuesday, that "the council expressed its aspiration to contribute to revitalizing the peace process initiated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab League, and the European Union, in cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to achieve security and stability in the Middle East region through establishing an independent Palestinian state within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital; in accordance with the decisions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative."
Subsequently, the Council of Ministers reviewed the results of participation in the opening of the seventy-eighth session of the United Nations General Assembly and the multilateral meetings held on the sidelines of its proceedings, including the themes that embodied the active role of the Kingdom and its efforts in achieving sustainable development goals, finding solutions to international challenges, and its continuous endeavor to address regional crises and issues, and to enhance security and peace for the peoples of the world.
The Council renewed what the Kingdom affirmed at the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, held in Vienna, regarding its support for enhancing international cooperation to harness nuclear technologies for the service of humanity and the importance of implementing the provisions of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons; to achieve a world free of them, especially in the Middle East region.
The Saudi Minister of Media clarified that the council considered the Kingdom's election to the presidency of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) and its membership in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as a reflection of the global appreciation for its contributions and initiatives aimed at enhancing collective work and elevating it to new horizons.
The Saudi Council of Ministers welcomed the inclusion of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) of the "Arouq Bani Ma'arid" reserve on its World Heritage List, which includes six other Saudi sites that reflect the richness of the Kingdom's heritage and natural diversity in various regions.
At the beginning of the session, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the leaders of brotherly and friendly countries for their sincere feelings and good wishes for the Kingdom on the occasion of its ninety-third National Day, wishing them good health and happiness, and further progress and prosperity for the governments and peoples of their countries.
