Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Ukraine on Monday of carrying out an attack on the bridge linking Russia and the Crimean Peninsula with the involvement of Britain and the United States.

Zakharova did not provide evidence for her claim.

Two people were killed after an "attack" on the bridge connecting the Crimean Peninsula to Russia.

Official media also reported that the head of the Crimean parliament blamed Ukraine for the incident, but Kyiv has not yet officially commented.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on social media platforms on Monday that "today's attack on the Crimea bridge was carried out by the Kyiv regime."

The Kerch Bridge was opened in 2018 and allows travel by road and rail between Russia and the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014.
