A report by Reuters news agency stated that the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, said on Thursday that global economic forecasts have "deteriorated significantly" since last April, indicating that she cannot rule out the possibility of a global recession next year amid the significant existing risks.

She added that the fund will reduce its growth forecast by 3.6% for the global economy this year in the coming weeks, noting that the fund's economists are still finalizing the new rates. The Reuters report pointed out that this is the third time this year that the fund has lowered its expectations for global economic growth, with the next time expected in April of next year.

However, the fund warned that uncertainty regarding global economic growth forecasts is higher than before, due to the effects of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on the global economy. If the West does not lift sanctions on Russia and widely restrict Russian energy exports after the conflict ends, global economic growth may slow further, and inflation will be higher than expected.
