A search operation was conducted after a four-year-old girl fell into the Mistassini River in Dolbeau-Mistassini, Quebec, about 300 kilometers north of Quebec City.
The search began on Friday around 2:30 PM and continued throughout the day.
A spokesperson for the Dolbeau-Mistassini Fire Department told Radio Canada that the mother and daughter slipped down a snowy hill near the Chute des Pères Hotel on Panoramic Street.
The spokesperson also added that the daughter climbed onto the riverbank and fell into the water. The girl fell into a part of the river that includes a waterfall known as Les Chute des Pères.
Firefighters and the Quebec Provincial Police searched together, walking along the riverbanks and using a boat to explore the area.
