England won 6-2 against Iran in a strong start to their World Cup finals journey in Qatar in Group B on Monday.
The English team achieved the big victory thanks to goals from Jude Bellingham and a brace from Bukayo Saka, with one goal in each half, as well as Raheem Sterling and substitutes Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish. Mehdi Taremi scored Iran's goals during the second half.
England came close to taking the lead with an early goal after Harry Maguire's header hit the crossbar, before Bellingham (19 years old) capitalized on a cross from Luke Shaw and scored with a precise header in the 35th minute.
Eight minutes later, Maguire rose high for a corner kick and passed to Saka who added the second goal with a powerful shot.
Sterling met a cross from the right side by captain Harry Kane to score the third goal from close range just before the break.
The score became 4-0 by Saka in the 62nd minute.
Iran striker Taremi reduced the deficit for his country three minutes later, but substitute Rashford scored England’s fifth goal immediately after coming on, then Grealish finished his country's goals in the 90th minute.
In the 13th minute of added time, Taremi scored Iran’s second goal from a penalty after a video assistant referee review.
Group B also includes the United States and Wales.
In the next round, England plays against the United States, and Iran competes against Wales on Friday.
