The Attorney General made a rare request to reopen the hearing to present new evidence.
The prosecution is asking the Ottawa court to reopen the bail hearing for a prominent organizer of the three-week protest convoy near the Parliament building.
Pat King was arrested last Friday and faces charges of corruption, counseling to commit bodily harm, counseling to commit a contempt of court offence, and counseling to obstruct police.
Justice of the Peace Andrew Seymour was scheduled to issue a ruling before the Attorney General made a rare request to reopen the hearing to present new evidence.
Attorney General Moiz Karimjee says the evidence relates to a 2016 firearms possession charge against King, which Karimjee says shows King cannot be trusted to comply with any release conditions.
Pat King's lawyer, Cal Rosmond, asked Andrew Seymour to deny Karimjee’s request, saying Karimjee could have disclosed this before King’s bail hearing earlier this week.
Rosmond also says the administration of justice will be harmed if King has to remain in jail another weekend awaiting a bail decision.
The bail decision for convoy organizer Pat King will be announced by a judge soon. Court proceeding to get underway at 10amET. #cdnpoli
