Emirates Airlines and Air Canada announced on Tuesday their intention to conclude a strategic partnership agreement that will provide more options for travelers across the destination networks of both carriers, while simultaneously contributing to enhancing their travel experience.
Under this agreement, Emirates Airlines and Air Canada will launch a codeshare partnership later this year. This partnership will allow Air Canada travelers to enjoy premium travel options to the UAE and many other destinations via Dubai, while Emirates travelers will enjoy a superior travel experience when flying to Toronto and many key destinations within Air Canada's destination network. This partnership will also enable travelers to book connecting flights to various destinations within the networks of both carriers easily, using a single ticket, and through seamless continuation of flights via each carrier’s global operations hub, in addition to benefiting from efficient and smooth baggage transfer to travelers’ final destinations.
Important Partnership
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, said: “This is an important partnership that will enable our travelers to reach more destinations in Canada and the Americas via our hub in Toronto and our other stations in the United States of America. This partnership also opens a wide range of new routes for travelers across the extensive networks of the two carriers in the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
Clark added: We are pleased to enter into this partnership with Air Canada, one of the most prestigious airlines in North America and the official carrier of Canada. We look forward to working jointly to advance in various areas to provide our travelers with better travel options and experiences.”
Global Reach
Meanwhile, Michael Rousseau, President and CEO of Air Canada, said: “As we continue to implement our strategy aimed at expanding our global reach and capitalizing on growing opportunities available in travel markets, particularly travel for visiting friends and relatives, which serves large multicultural communities in Canada, we are pleased to launch a strategic partnership with Emirates Airlines, the UAE carrier with a highly esteemed global reputation headquartered in Dubai, the vibrant city. This strategic agreement will integrate the networks of both carriers, granting Air Canada travelers additional convenient options when traveling between Canada and the UAE, as well as when traveling to other destinations via Dubai.”
Rousseau added: “We look forward to offering Air Canada codes on major Emirates flights, as well as offering Emirates codes on select Air Canada flights, and we look forward to welcoming Emirates travelers aboard our flights later this year.”
The two carriers will work to enhance the traveler experience through mutual benefits for frequent flyers on their flights, in addition to enabling reciprocal use of each carrier’s lounges at airports for eligible travelers.
