Media outlets from Islamabad reported that the Pakistani President, Dr. Arif Alvi, approved Prime Minister Imran Khan's proposal to dissolve the parliament and hold early legislative elections, according to constitutional principles.

He added that this development came after the Prime Minister submitted a memorandum to the President proposing the dissolution of the parliament in preparation for new elections.

The correspondent explained that this happened minutes after the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Qasim Khan Suri, rejected the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister on the grounds that it contradicts the constitution and regulations according to Article 5 of the constitution.

The government was seeking to prove American involvement in Pakistan’s internal affairs and Washington’s attempt to overthrow Khan’s government.

The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, who chaired today's parliamentary session, the Prime Minister, and several government ministers had repeated the same accusations of foreign interference in their country’s affairs through opposition forces.

Thus, the Pakistani Prime Minister survived a move aimed at toppling him from office.

Earlier, Khan advised the President to dissolve the parliament, which could lead to a new wave of political instability in the nuclear-armed country with a population of 220 million.

Khan said in a televised speech: “I have sent advice to the President to dissolve the assemblies,” referring to the legislative assemblies.

Khan called on Pakistanis to prepare for new elections.
