The police warned that they will be deployed in the Canadian capital Ottawa this weekend following reports of planned demonstrations inside the city.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPS) confirmed on Friday that they are aware of several planned march-style protests that could affect the heart of downtown and near the Rideau Centre.
The police said the protests have different start times and officers will be on standby to ensure the safety of all participants.
The police also confirmed that there may be road closures this weekend but did not specify where or when.
This warning comes just one week after a pro-Palestinian demonstration was organized at the Bayshore Shopping Centre in Ottawa, which targeted the Zara retail clothing company on December 15.
At that time, the Spanish fashion brand withdrew advertising images that some perceived as referring to Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza, sparking protests in Ottawa and Toronto.
The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) reminded the public to respect barriers and follow police instructions in case of road closures.
