The Atlas Lions (the Moroccan national team) restored pride to Arab football after the valuable and deserved victory in an exciting match against Belgium, with two goals to none, the third strongest team in the world.

This performance by the Atlas Lions came after the poor performance of the Qatar national team, the host country of the 2022 World Cup.

The Qatar national team had suffered two consecutive defeats and was eliminated from the tournament early, presenting poor performances that did not match the huge resources spent on their training.

On the other hand, the Atlas Lions presented two strong matches, drawing in the first and defeating the third strongest football team in the world in the second.

The Moroccan national football team has put a foot in the round of 16 by beating Belgium, the third place of the last edition and ranked second globally, 2-0, at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha, in the opening of the second round of Group F matches in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Morocco owes its first win in the current edition and third in its history to the substitutes, the Sampdoria Italian midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri (73) and the Toulouse French striker Zakaria Aboukhlal (90+2), temporarily taking the lead of the group with four points, one point ahead of Belgium, and three points ahead of Croatia, who will face Canada later.
