German Finance Minister Christian Lindner expressed his concern about what he described as the growing anti-Semitism in the country, coinciding with a statement to immigrant communities in the country that included provisions on how to behave in Germany.
Furthermore, the newspaper "Bild," the largest local media outlet, published the aforementioned statement today, Sunday, which consists of 50 points, and included the indication that after the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation launched by Hamas against Israel, a reality that had been absent became evident: that many people in Germany hate the "democratic values" in the country, according to the statement.
In turn, "Bild" compiled a series of reactions to the statement it published, including the reactions of Economy Minister Robert Habeck and Finance Minister Lindner.
Habeck told the newspaper, as the Deputy Chancellor of Germany: "The level of anti-Semitism is frightening. We have a historical responsibility, and anti-Semitism, whatever its form, must have no place in Germany."
For his part, Lindner emphasized that he had been warning about "uncontrolled immigration to Germany" since 2016.
He added: "Now, finally, there is an increasing willingness to draw political conclusions."
It is worth noting that numerous demonstrations in support of Palestine, some of which sometimes escalated into riots, have taken place in Germany since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on October 7 of this month.
In a related context, Israeli Ambassador to Germany Ron Prosor expressed his dissatisfaction yesterday, Saturday, with Germany’s abstention from voting in the United Nations General Assembly on a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
For her part, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock compared the situation in Gaza to the impossible engineering problem of squaring the circle.
The minister indicated on the 23rd of this month that "it is necessary to combat terrorism while protecting civilians in the region at the same time."
