A group of legal aid lawyers began a half-day strike on Monday, while their collective agreement renewal with the Quebec government remains unresolved.
The group consists of lawyers affiliated with the CSN Professional Union, who were on strike in the morning after withdrawing earlier this month.
In mid-June, lawyers in the Montreal Laval, Bas-Saint-Laurent Gaspésie, Laurentides, and Lanaudière regions also voted in favor of another strike mandate, this time for seven days, to be exercised at an appropriate time.
The other group, the Union of Lawyers and Legal Defenders, an independent group from central labor bodies with 210 members, has not yet completed the renewal of its collective agreement.
Both organizations are seeking wage parity with criminal prosecutors.
