Kerry Burke admitted to committing second-degree murder on Tuesday morning in Sudbury Court.
Burke, a resident of Killarney, confessed to killing his brother Brandt Burke two years ago. Ontario Provincial Police were called to the Point Grondine Reserve on October 25, 2020, where the remains of 56-year-old Brandt Burke were found inside the Wiikwemkoong First Nation territory, and Kerry Burke, represented by lawyer Glenn Sandberg, was charged with first-degree murder in the case.
He was charged along with Brandt's ex-wife, Melissa Sheridan of Sudbury, who remains charged with first-degree murder.
An autopsy was conducted in Sudbury, confirming that the cause of death was a firearm-related injury. Kerry Burke was charged on November 24, 2020.
