The Syrian news agency "SANA" reported early Wednesday the killing and injury of a number of civilians and material damage as a result of an "Israeli aggression" on the city of Homs and its countryside.
SANA agency stated: "Our air defense systems confronted the aggression missiles and shot down some of them."
SANA quoted a military source as saying that "around 00:30 early today (Wednesday), the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from the direction of northern Tripoli targeting a number of points in the city of Homs.
The director of the Observatory, Rami Abdul Rahman, told Agence France-Presse that "four people, including two civilians, were killed in the Israeli air raids on the city of Homs."
Last week, the United States launched four strikes against Iran-backed factions in Syria and Iraq in response to an attack targeting its forces in Jordan, resulting in dozens of deaths.
In January, Israeli strikes near Damascus killed eight people, including fighters loyal to Iran, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes in Syria over the past years, mainly targeting Iranian targets and others affiliated with Hezbollah, including warehouses, shipments of weapons and ammunition, as well as Syrian army sites.
However, these strikes intensified after the outbreak of the war in Gaza following an unprecedented attack launched by Hamas on Israel on October 7.
