The Palestinian Authority's Coordination Committee for Goods announced today, Friday, that the Israeli authorities have informed them that exports from the Gaza Strip will resume next Sunday, following five days of restrictions.
The committee stated in a statement: "The resumption of exports will be through the Kerem Shalom crossing starting Sunday, as it was before the latest closure."
Last Monday, the Coordination Committee for Goods said that the Israeli authorities had informed them of a halt to all types of exports from the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom commercial crossing.
This came after the Israeli army intercepted, according to Hebrew sources, materials exported from Gaza to the West Bank used in the manufacture of explosives.
The Kerem Shalom crossing is considered the only commercial outlet for the Gaza Strip since Israel imposed a blockade and closed all crossings with Gaza nearly 16 years ago.
