The FRA agency, specialized in fundamental rights within the European Union, issued a study confirming that the level of racism in Europe due to skin color and origin has increased in the last five years, with Germany topping the list of European countries in this regard.

The study, which covered thirteen countries, confirms that the rate of victims of racism who participated in it - due to color, origin, or religion - rose to 45 percent, and that Germany, where one in every four people currently living there is of foreign origin, surpassed the racism rate in all thirteen countries, with the rate reaching 75 percent, while neighboring countries such as Poland do not exceed twenty percent.
The study indicates that discriminatory treatment due to dark skin color exceeded other reasons including ethnic origin, religion, and culture, and that the job search field is the area where victims are most exposed to racism, followed by housing search and treatment at work.
This painful result greatly aligns with the developments recorded at the level of state institutions and research institutions concerned with the topic, where it was announced that 90 percent of Germans agree with the statement "There is racism in Germany," and that 80 percent of them identify the areas of racial discrimination practice in school, work, and housing, confirming a widespread feeling of the deep infiltration of racism into society and its institutions.

These studies, which were considered the first in their comprehensiveness and representation of different segments of society and perspectives on the topic, include a clear admission of the delay in addressing the issue and the loss of many threads in the story of racial discrimination in the country, which allowed many to escape the sword of justice, while the societal elites had noticed the seriousness of the matter in the 1990s, when racism emerged in the form of attacks on foreigners in villages and small towns. The segment of intellectuals is considered among the most prominent who played an important role in raising awareness about the seriousness of the matter and, for that purpose, established an endowment institution supervising the "International Weeks Against Racism," in addition to the "Side by Side" foundation established in recent years, which mainly focuses on the victim who is usually neglected when a racist incident occurs.
