Five people were injured as a result of a missile attack launched by Russian forces on the Cherkasy region in central Ukraine.

The National Ukrainian News Agency reported today that rescue operations are still ongoing due to the presence of a person under the rubble, adding that as a result of air defense efforts, debris fell in the central part of the city, causing damage to a social infrastructure facility.

In a separate incident, Ukrainian defense forces were able to intercept 20 Russian airstrikes over the capital Kyiv this morning.

Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv city military administration, stated that missile debris fell in several neighborhoods of the capital, adding that there was damage to gas pipes in the Shevchenkivskyi area, while non-residential buildings and parked cars were damaged due to debris in the Darnytsia district.

Ukrainian authorities also reported a series of explosions in Kyiv and Kharkiv, leaving some neighborhoods without water and electricity without causing any human casualties.

Russia began a "special military operation" in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, which is still ongoing with no signs of impending completion, amidst significant divergences in the positions of the two sides of the conflict and the involvement of other international parties in the crisis.
