Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea announced today, Saturday, an increase in its sales in the United States last February by 6%.
The company sold 60,341 units in the world's largest car market last month, compared to sales of 57,044 units a year earlier.
The company attributed the sales increase to the rise in sales of eco-friendly models, such as hybrid and electric vehicles.
Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, said in a statement, "Hyundai's sales of electric and hybrid vehicles are steadily increasing, with significant year-on-year growth."
Yonhap News Agency quoted him as saying, "We are proud of the recognition our electric and hybrid models have received, and we remain committed to offering a wide range of products to our customers."
