Fuel prices in Ontario are about to drop significantly, and one expert said it "is worth the wait" if drivers can delay refueling.

Dan MacTighe, head of energy, said: "Finally some good news."

In the same context, MacTighe said fuel prices will drop 11 cents per litre on Friday morning, partly due to Ontario's reduction of the provincial gas tax.

MacTighe said: "Of the 11 cents, 6.5 cents were due to the provincial government's gas tax cut, and 4.5 cents due to the markets."

He added that the average fuel price in Ontario on Friday will be 1.93 cents per litre, the lowest since May 12.

On the other hand, MacTighe said: "If that is not enough for people, I am now looking forward to more deterioration." "And if this continues, fuel prices will drop another five cents per litre on Saturday."

This would reduce fuel prices to an average of 1.88 cents per litre, marking the lowest price since April 30. This would be a 15-cent decrease from Thursday's prices.

MacTighe added: "Don't visit a gas station unless you have to." "You don't see these big drops often. It's worth waiting."

He said this would be a "short-term move" for drivers, and prices are likely to rise again above $2.10 by mid-July.

He added, "I don't think this will last." "So take advantage of it now."
