Prime Minister Doug Ford said he will negotiate honestly with the province's teachers, but he warned that students must be in school in the fall.

On the other hand, Ford said the province will offer teachers, whose contracts expire on August 31, more than a 1 percent increase, but he did not say he would cancel Bill 124.

He added, "Their increase will be more than one percent, it won’t be large but it will be very fair for everyone." "I always emphasize the word fair. I understand that costs are rising but we cannot keep children out of school no matter what."

"We fully understand inflation, and we fully understand that the cost of living is rising, but my message to the teachers' union is one thing, these children must return to school in September and they must return to school through interactive and recreational activities."

Earlier, these activities were cut when teachers were negotiating with the government.

In the same context, four of the five major education unions have already taken the first step to start negotiations by sending notices to the province.

It is worth mentioning that the Progressive Conservative Party has had an unfriendly relationship with the unions over the past four years, where teachers organized many strikes and organized work campaigns during the last round of negotiations.
