The "Nova Scotia RCMP" police say that the fire that destroyed the band hall in "Bear River First Nation" may be suspicious.
"Digby RCMP" responded with fire crews to the fire on "Reservation" Road at about 1:15 a.m. on Friday.
When the police arrived, they said the building was completely on fire, and crews were trying to extinguish the flames.
David McCormick, chief of "Bear River Fire," says that despite the efforts of the fire departments, the 38-year-old three-story building is a total loss.
McCormick told CTV News: "There was no one inside the building at the time and no reports of injuries."
The cause is under investigation, but the police say the fire is likely suspicious, based on evidence collected from the scene.
The police secured the scene and the Fire Marshal's office was called to assist with the investigation.
