The National Seismological Service in Mexico reported on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that tremors of 5.2 magnitude struck the state of Guerrero in southern Mexico.
The agency stated in its announcement that the earthquake occurred yesterday evening, Saturday.
According to the statement, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 57 kilometers southeast of the city of San Marcos, which has a population of about 13,300, and the focus of the tremors was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The agency confirmed that it had not received any reports of injuries or material damage.
At the same time, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre announced in a statement that an earthquake of 5.2 magnitude was recorded in Nepal near the border with India.
According to the statement, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 65 kilometers west of Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, which has a population of about 1.44 million. The focus of the tremors was at a depth of 14 kilometers.
There were also no reports of material damage or injuries due to the earthquake.
